Akira Hino (日野 晶 Hino Akira) is a high school student and Shimamura Hougetsu's friend. She is introduced in Chapter 2, where she is visiting a bookstore with Shimamura Hougetsu and Nagafuji.
Appearance[]
Hino has shoulder length hair, tied into low twintails. She is rather short, being shorter than Shimamura and Nagafuji. She also has big eyes.
Personality[]
Hino has a bubbly personality and is known to add in sound effects, whether they're needed or not.
She feels somewhat insecure and believes her family would be fine without her.
History[]
Hino was the fifth child born in her family. According to her, by the time she was born, her oldest brother was about to get married himself. Apparently, if she has been born a boy, her parents would have named her something that mean 'fifth son', but they were happy she was born a girl, so the list of girl's names wouldn't go to waste.
Hino met Nagafuji when they were in kindergarten, and they have been friends ever since. They have apparently been in the same class as each other for ten years straight.
Due to her family running an Inn, Hino would occasionally have to get dressed for occasions to help greet guests. Hino's insecurities regarding her role in the family were so great that she decided it would be best for her to runaway. The family maid was able to get permission from Hino's parents to allow her to leave the home temporarily.
Hino would go to the same High School as Nagafuji. During their first year, they would also befriend Shimamura Hougetsu. She also heard a number of rumors regarding Adachi Sakura, and she had some misconstrued interpretation of what type of person she is. She also encounters the strange alien Chikama Yashiro during one of her times fishing.
Plot[]
Volume 01[]
Hino convinces Shimamura to come with her to go fishing partly because she hopes that they'll have a run in with the alien girl who wears a space suit.
Volume 02[]
Adachi asks Hino for some advice in regards to what she could potentially get as a Christmas gift for Shimamura. Hino quickly catches on that Adachi would rather not asks Shimamura directly, and she decides to help her. Hino believes that there is a tea that Shimamura seems to like, but she would need to pay a visit to the tea shop personally to be sure. Hino decides to accompany Adachi to the mall since she needs to buy some new tea leaves for her family's inn.
Volume 03[]
Hino and Nagafuji exchange chocolates during Valentine's Day.
When they begin their second year in High School, Hino is in the same class as Nagafuji for the tenth time in a row. They are in a separate classroom from Adachi and Shimamura.

Hino has to deal with Nagafuji inviting herself over to her family's home for a sleepover.

Etymology[]
- Hino means "sun, day" (日) (hi) and "field, wilderness" (野) (no).
- Akira means "clear, crystal" (晶).
