"Playing Ping-Pong in Our Uniforms" (制服ピンポン, Seifuku Pinpon) is the first episode of the Adachi and Shimamura anime.
Summary[]
Adachi and Shimamura happened to meet each other on the second floor of the gymnasium as they were skipping class. Eventually, they started seeing each other more and started playing ping-pong together.
Plot[]
The episode begins with a strange girl wearing an astronaut outfit staring up at the sky above.
Adachi met Shimamura on the second floor of the gymnasium while skipping class one day and the two began to play ping pong together. One day while they are ditching, a class enters the gym and the two are forced to hide. Shimamura suggests they jump out the window, joking that if the two of them drank milk, their bones would be strong enough to survive the fall. While Shimamura goes to get the two of them lunch, Adachi recalls their first meeting.
Shimamura runs into her classmates Hino and Nagafuji at the bookstore and leaves with them. As they walk, Shimamura thinks about how she places distance between herself and others to avoid misunderstanding. Shimamura's group passes Adachi, but neither speaks to the other. Afterwards, Shimamura tells her friends that were Adachi is their classmate, but says nothing of their time together while ditching.
The next day, Adachi finds Shimamura ditching as usual and tells her she planned to go home. Shimamura asks Adachi if she'd rather stay until the end of classes or go home and the two decide to ride Adachi's bike home. Adachi tells Shimamura that she was surprised to see Shimamura had friends since she was always ditching alone and admits that Shimamura is her only friend.
Later, Nagafuji and Hino discover Adachi and Shimamura playing ping pong and introduce themselves over snacks. Hina invites Shimamura fishing to meet her friend in a spacesuit. The next day, Adachi doesn't show up to their usual spot and Shimamura worries they might not see one another again when Adachi hits Shimamura with her bike and walks Shimamura home, which makes Shimamura happy.
