Mother of Adachi Sakura and a supporting character of the series.
Appearance[]
Shimamura Hougetsu believes she is basically an older version of Adachi.
Personality[]
In her first appearance, she displays a confrontational side as she tells Shimamura that she doesn't like her due to her being younger and getting attention. She passes it off as a joke, but it isn't known if she really was joking or not.
Unlike her daughter, Atsuka is more social, but she is rather dismissive of her daughter as she had no issue speaking poorly of her in front of others.
While she does cook food and provide her daughter with the necessities, she is emotionally neglectful of her.
History[]
When Adachi was four or five years old, Atsuka more or less gave up attempting to understand her.
Plotline[]
Volume 02[]
Shimamura encounters her at the gym, and they enter into a 'contest' over who is right.
Later when Adachi suggests they study at Shimamura's house, Shimamura considers suggesting Adachi's house instead. However, Shimamura decides against the suggestion due to wishes to avoid running into Atsuka.
Volume 09[]
Atsuka encounters Shimamura's mother who invites her to her house for Christmas.
Volume 10[]
Atsuka watches her daughter leave her house for good. While Adachi acknowledges the time they shared wasn't all bad, she believes any chance of mending their relationship which Atsuka more or less silently agrees with. Regardless, Atsuka more or less wishes Adachi luck.
Relationships[]
Family[]
Despite being Sakura's mother, they lack a bond. Apparently, when Sakura was four or five years old, Sakura's indecisiveness caused Atsuka to more or less give up on trying to understand her.
Following Adachi moving out of their house in the future segments, it is indicated that Adachi and Atsuka have not had any contact with each other.
Trivia[]
- In Volume 09, Atsuka mentions that she doesn't have a husband. However, she apparently lives with the person who fathered Adachi Sakura. While it hasn't been confirmed, it implies that she had Adachi out of wedlock.
